General Meeting Minutes
Social time with an Aggie Ring Traditions mixer began at 6:45 PM. Members were asked to find answers to Ring questions while board members were labeled with the answers. At 7:15, President Kay Pontious called the meeting to order. She reported that Kay Bailey Hutchison was the Friday night speaker for the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Clubs’ Winter General Meeting in College Station, January 22 & 23. Saturday morning, President R. Bowen Loftin ’71, the sole finalist for the presidency, addressed the group with information about campus construction and expenditure cuts as well as thanks for all the group does for students. Tondi Brnach, Ann Coker and Amy Schreiber joined Kay for the District 4 Meeting that afternoon.
Secretary Sherri Whitehurst posted December General Meeting minutes and they were emailed to Membership. Minutes were approved as distributed.
Treasurer Cindy Shelley presented Treasurers’ Reports. The beginning balance on 1/18/10 was $5,432.78. Total Income $189.46 and Expenses $164.21 leaving a Balance of $5,458.03 as of 2/04/10. Amegy Bank Investment Account balance was $2,268.54 as of 2/04/10. The Treasurers’ Report will be filed for audit.
Program Chair Margaret Thomas-Mouton introduced student speaker Ashley Teel of Alternate Spring Break (ASB). Ashley explained the mission, roles and how to become involved with the organization. She then answered questions.
Officer and Committee Reports
Vice President at Large Sonna Lumpkins reported a condolence card was sent to the family of Karen Guise who recently passed away.
Vice President/Student Drawings Cheryl Black announced Target gift cards will be sent to winners this month.
Parliamentarian Marie Rockwood reported $67.46 received from Randall’s and 10 ink cartridges were taken to Office Max. Marie presented the proposed Bylaw changes that were emailed to members; we will vote on these changes at the March General Meeting.
Care Packages Tondi Branch thanked everyone who helped with Care Packages. Spring Care Package (cooler with goodies) orders are being taken, cost $22; price increased to pay sales tax.
Directory Cathy McMaster has directories and addendums for members to pick-up.
Hospitality/Door Prizes Debbie Vaughn/Ellen Schultz thanked everyone for bringing the refreshments. Please sign up to bring refreshments for the March Meeting.
Membership Sylvia Rowehl reported 43 members in attendance tonight and our club has a total of 167 members.
Programs Margaret Thomas-Mouton announced that next month speakers will be representatives from Parents Weekend Committee.
Scholarships Amy Schreiber (forVal Reeves) announced deadline for Scholarship application is April 1 st. Applications are available tonight or on the club web site.
Socials Theresa Ashton encouraged members to sign-up for Couples Bunco Social, February 20 and explained details.
Telephone Hotline Ann Coker Phone # 281-394-8108, Kay surveyed members to see who has called the Hotline, but very few members have ever used the service.
Ways & Means Mary Okruhlik/Amy Schreiber solicited volunteers for Aggie Moms’ Boutique during Parents’ Weekend: set-up April 15, with sales April 16 & 17. Come work at our club booth and shop with your student.

Correspondences-Thank-you notes from Endowed Opportunity Scholarship recipients and Aggie newspaper articles were passed.
Kay asked new members to introduce themselves.
Door Prizes drawing: winners were Nancy Finney, Sue Merrick and Katherine Jones.
Student Drawings: Cheryl drew four winners to receive Target gift cards.
