General Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order by President Sonna Lumpkins. Sonna welcomed all.

Secretary Kathleen Wilburn/Penny Nelson reported that the minutes were posted and had been sent via e-mail. Having no corrections, the minutes stood approved as posted.

Treasurer’s Report – Marie Rockwood –the checking balance on April 23, 2009 was $6369.33. The Investment Account Balance on April 23, 2009 was 25,741.65. The treasurer’s report was filed for audit.

12 th Mom Stretch found us lining up by our bra cup size. Some of the comments made were: “barely a B,” “you look like a C,” “do you want me to show you?”

Officers and Committees

Vice President at Large/Love Fund Penny Nelson – No report
Vice President/Student Drawings Sherri Whitehurst – have 3 drawings tonight
Parliamentarian/Grocery Rebate Kathleen Wilburn – No report
Care Packages Tondi Branch – Tuesday delivery of care packages was great. Thank you to all who helped to assemble and deliver packages. There were 137 Packages picked up with 6 left over for the Galveston students. Pictures were taken. Met new Reveille!
Historian Ginger Westbrook – scrapbook completed except for tonight’s pictures and the Howdy Social.
Hospitality/Door Prizes Lori Etchison –thanked all who brought refreshments tonight.
Membership/Directory Emma Lipperdt –162 members, 37 members and 1 guest tonight
Programs Renee Anchors – would like feedback about the Study Abroad program from April meeting. Installation of Officers is tonight’s program. Howdy Social is June 8 th with the Yell Leaders and Jay Kelly from Katy Area Former Students.
Publications Kay Pontious – Announcement of tonight’s meeting and picture of Big Event volunteers wrapped in the blankets was in the papers.
Scholarships Onaida Reichen – sent an e-mail to students receiving scholarships.
Socials Theresa Ashton – announced that May 19 th will be the joint board meeting
Telephone Hotline – Ann Coker – No Report – Just continue to listen for updates
Ways & Means Mary Okruhlik & Kathleen Wilburn – Boutique profit over $3,000
Webmaster Kathy Keeney – Absent, she is having website difficulties, so please forgive the absence of updated material on our website.
12 th Mom Stretch – Played a game of Simon Says! This got the moms up and moving around.

Old Business :

President Sonna thanked all who worked at our booth at Parent’s Weekend Boutique booth! She also thanked everyone who assembled and delivered Care Packages!

Reminder-- Howdy Social will be Monday, June 8 th @ Holy Covenant United Methodist Church on Morton Road at 7:00 pm. The social honors the graduates and welcomes the incoming students and their parents. If you can help with set-up, please come at 2:00. Graduates of August ‘08, December ’08, and May ’09 need to sign-up with Sonna to be recognized at the event. Provide name, Class Year (the year on senior ring, not when graduated) and degree information (B.A., B.S., Masters). She has 18 on the list so far.

$500 donations have been made from our Club to the following TAMU organizations: Fish Camp, Traditions Council, Parson’s Mounted Calvary, EIC (Environmental Issues Committee) and CARPOOL.

President’s Raffle: tickets are a $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00, (drawing at the June Howdy Social). Benjamin Knox has just donated a print!!! There are several other donations, be sure and check it out. There will be 6 separate drawings!

New Business:

President Sonna Lumpkins gave her End-of-Year Speech

Matinee Movie Moms – meets on Fridays- Cindy Long reminded everyone to wear their maroon shirts!
There were no new members present tonight.
Door Prizes – Lori Etchison - the three winners were Traci, Sylvia, and Cindy Long.
Student Drawings – Sherri Whitehurst did three student drawings

12 th Mom Stretch – All the moms got in a circle and answered questions from Nancy Williford. If the answer was yes, they moved one chair to the left, more than one mom ended up in the same chair. Some of the responses were:

“No, not a native Texan”; “Blonde – naturally”?; “hair dyed – everybody move”; “Do step kids count?”; “Your car or someone in your family?”; “Reveille’s grave – No I haven’t yet in all these years”; “Muster – not yet, but planning on it”; “if this is your 29 th birthday again(all moved)”; a fun time was enjoyed by everyone.

Meeting was adjourned. The next General Meeting will be September 3,2009 at 7:00 pm, at the Living word Lutheran Church.
