General Meeting Minutes

The evening began at 6:45 PM with a social mixer organized by Deena Mitchell. At 7:10 PM, President Kay Pontious called the Meeting to Order. She introduced guest and Aggie Alumni Steve Broussard, father to Aggie Student Brent Broussard, one of tonight’s speakers.

Secretary Sherri Whitehurst posted minutes on the bulletin board and they were emailed to the membership. There were no corrections. Minutes were approved as distributed.

Treasurer Cindy Shelley presented the Treasurer’s Report. The beginning balance on 10/20/2009 was $7500.90. The income was $2071.20 with expenses of $330.35 leaving a balance of $9241.75 on 11/05/2009. The balance of the Amegy Bank Investment Account as of 11/05/2009 is $2267.13. The Treasurer’s Report will be filed for audit.

Programs Chair Margaret Thomas-Mouton introduced guest speakers from Traditions Council-Brent Broussard, Patrick Reeves, Kaitlyn Campbell and Marissa Sebil who presented a slide show and program titled “Bonfire –Past and Present.” Topics included: history of Bonfire, rivalry between A&M and tu, collapse of the Bonfire in 1999, Bonfire Memorial and 10 th Anniversary of the collapse. They spoke about the Bonfire Exhibit beginning November 11 th, the Remembrance Program Nov.17 @ 8 PM in Reed Arena and the Candlelight Vigil Nov.18 th @ 2:42 AM at the Bonfire Memorial.

Officer and Committee Reports

Vice President at Large Sonna Lumpkins reported $164.44 in Love Fund and had the Scrapbook on display.

Vice President /Student Drawings Cheryl Black sent Walmart gift cards last month to winners and will send Target gift cards this month.

Parliament/Grocery Rebates Marie Rockwood received $62.20 from Randall’s Grocery Rebate Program.

Care Packages Tondi Branch has sold out of Fall Care Packages; she passed a sign-up sheet for volunteers to assemble & deliver.

Directory Cathy McMaster distributed 20009-2010 Directories tonight, total cost $363.80 for 170 Directories. She thanked Cindy Shelley for helping in the publication process while Cathy was out of the country.

Hospitality/Door Prizes Debbie Vaughn/Ellen Schultz asked members who brought food to stand and tell what they had brought. Thanks to everyone who brought refreshments.

Membership Sylvia Rowehl reported 155 members. She will continue to take membership forms and the information will be included in the Directory Addendum which will be available for pick-up at the February General Meeting.

Programs Margaret Thomas-Mouton announced we will have an ornament exchange and Holiday Party at the December General Meeting.

Scholarship Chair Val Reeves announced that the recipient of the Club’s 2 nd Endowed Opportunity Award Scholarship is Taylor HS Graduate John Samuel Cessna ’13.

Socials Onaida Reichen asked for suggestions for upcoming Socials. No Social in December, Couples Bunco will be in Februrary

Ways & Means Mary Okruhlik and Amy Schreiber organized the sales and volunteers for Seasons of Aggieland in College Station. Thanks to the volunteers who worked at the Club Booth! Don’t forget to purchase Aggie gifts from the Boutique. If you have a special request, please email and they will bring it to the next General Meeting. If you ordered a club shirt, please come by and pick it up.

Webmaster Gail Wells continues to update the web site.

12 th Mom Stretch led by Nancy Williford, members gathered in a circle as we answered:
“Have You Ever?” questions as we moved one seat to the left, leaving some members in laps of others. A good time was had by all.
