General Meeting Minutes

The President of Katy/West Houston Aggie Moms, Penny Nelson, called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone.

Guest Speaker – Ginger Westbrook introduced CHANGE representative Joshua Vernon. CHANGE started in 2002. It is an organization which awards scholarships in the form of the Aggie Ring to Aggies that have shown a contribution to the Aggie community and because of financial need would not have been able to get their Aggie Ring. The first scholarships were awarded in 2004 and approximately 75 students have benefited from CHANGE. Joshua is also a senior in the corp. and answered numerous questions about the corp. and his uniform. All the Aggie Moms that braved the storm to come to the meeting thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Secretary, Kathleen Wilburn said the minutes were posted near the entrance. Cindy Long made the motion to approve the minutes, and Lindy Bundy seconded. The minutes were approved as posted .

Treasures Report-Theresa Ashton reported as of 1/15/2008 that the checking account balance was $6,096.13. The total income for February was $274.64. The monthly expenses were $1,344.70, with a balance as of 2/19/08 of $5,026.07. The investment account balance as of 1/15/08 was $23,561.16. Emma Lipperdt made the motion to approve the minutes and Tondi Branch seconded. The Treasurer’s Report stands approved as read.

Officers and Committees

Vice President at Large/ Love Fund-Nancy Williford said the Love Fund has $149.14.

Vice President/Student drawings-Karen Kurt Sonna , in Karen’s absence, said there would be 2 student drawings.

Parliamentarian-Renee Anchors No report

Care Packages- JoAnn Young & Vicki Welsch Orders for Care Packages were being taken at the meeting, 45 had been sold so far, only 100 available.

. Membership/Directory- Emma Lipperdt said we have 142 members. 36 members were in attendance at the meeting. The new 2007-2008 Membership form is on the website. http://www.katywesthoustonaggiemoms.com/ The Directories are available.

Grocery Rebates- Renee Anchors –Kroger was stopping their rebate program as of March 25, 2008.

Hospitality/Door prizes-Lori Etchison Even with the storm Lori still had a great display as usual and wonderful treats were provided by Aggie Moms.

Programs- Ginger Westbrook April program will be CARPOOL.

Publications-Kay Pontious told us about the upcoming student elections and about Jason Castro, an Aggie in the American Idol finals.

Socials- Onaida Reichen. A tailgate party is being planned for the Maroon and White game in April.

Friday Movie- Cindy Long. Transporter is the movie.

Telephone-Marilyn Mokwa The Hotline was updated. Listen @ 281-394-8108

Ways and Means-Christina McCaslin, Kathy Keene, and Margaret King New Aprons are available and special orders can be made for them if an individual wants something personalized on them. Sign up sheets for Parents Weekend are at the table. Lots of volunteers are needed to work on Friday and Sat. April 11-12, 2008.

Old Business

Big Event – March 29, 2008. Make blankets for a child’s cancer unit. “Fit to be tied” will be 1:00—4:00pm at the Living Word Lutheran Church on March 29, 2008. Bring your material, and scissors. Snacks will be provided.

New Business

Introduction of new members- First time moms told about themselves and their Aggie. Welcome to Aggie Moms and to the Katy/West Houston Aggie Moms Club.

Graduates of August 2007, December 2007, and May 2008. Moms of graduates please sign up with Penny.

PARENT’S WEEKEND---APRIL 11-12—BOUTIQUE

Presidents Raffle- tickets on sale until the Howdy Social in June.
