Howdy Aggie Moms!

Wow, can you believe that the holidays are past and January is nearly over! I hope everyone had a Wonderful Christmas or Hanukah and a Fun New Years! Now that our students have returned to school, hopefully you have gotten back into your normal routine and you’re ready for some more FUN in Aggie Moms. At the December meeting we discovered a lot about each other while sharing our own family holiday traditions. Each person LEFT with an Aggie star ornament for participating. It also LEFT us laughing so hard when the Aggie RIGHT Family story was read as we tried to keep up with the RIGHT directions as we passed those brown bags LEFT then RIGHT. You did get the RIGHT ornament didn’t you?

As you can see the FUN didn’t stop when we found out at the last minute our guest speaker had to cancel due to her sick child. It just gave us more time to visit, eat some yummy snacks and sing a couple of Christmas carols. In February, the Committee from Parent’s Weekend will be here to share about activities and programs they have planned in April. Can you believe Parent’s Weekend (April 13-15) will soon be here!

The Ways & Means Committee did a great job at Winter-in-Aggieland in December despite the cold weather. Thanks to everyone involved with the planning, delivering and working the booth. Thanks also to everyone who help put together and distribute the Fall Care Packages. We couldn’t have done all this without your help!

It’s that time again to begin selecting our Officers and Committee for 2007-2008 school year. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please contact Emma Lipperdt at 281-500-7937. See a list of current offices by visiting our website www.katywesthoustonaggiemoms.com.

While you’re on the website check out the scholarship application that is now available. Any student who meets the criteria is eligible to apply. We will award six $1000 scholarships at the annual Howdy Dinner in June. Be sure to have your student download the application ~ deadline to apply is April 12 th.

We will also be honoring our graduating seniors at the Howdy Dinner. If you have a graduate from August 06, December 06, or May 07, please email me (info@securehouston.com) with that information so we can honor your student during the program. I will need to know their name and class year as soon as possible so we can make arrangements. A sign up sheet will be passed around at our General Meeting.

We have several things coming up in February that you need to know about. If you haven’t had a chance to hear The A&M Singing Cadets, they will have a concert, Friday, February 16 th ~ 7:00 p.m. at Holy Covenant United Methodist Church ~ 22111 Morton Ranch Road in Katy. The cost is $10.00 ~ This is not a Katy Aggie Mom’s event so if you need more information contact Bruce Campbell at 281-492-1974.

Saturday, February 17 th is our Aggie Mom’s District IV Meeting hosted by the Montgomery County Aggie Moms. Their theme is Mardi Gras; eight of our Moms have signed up to enjoy the program and lunch while getting to know other Clubs in our District. If you are interested in going, please contact me immediately so we can get you added to the list. Here’s the information: Saturday, February 17 – 10:30 am – 1:30 pm ~ The Woodlands United Methodist Church ~ 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr. ~ The Woodlands ~ Cost $15.00 lunch

Our next Mom’s Night Out Social is Thursday, February 22 nd ~ Game night ~ 7:00 pm at our regular meeting place unless plans change. We are playing Apples to Apples; I hear that’s really FUN!

Speaking of FUN, there are plans in the works by our Social Chairman for our first Spring Mom’s Field Trip to Messina Hof Winery just outside College Station!!! This will be on Saturday, March 3rd and we will take a tour, taste a little wine and have some lunch before we carpool back to Katy. Cost is $7.00 for the tour which includes four samples and a wine glass to take home. Cost of lunch will be determined later. More details at the meeting! Let me or Rogie Peyton know if you are interested in going. We will need your $7.00 deposit at the Feb meeting! If you can’t make the meeting, mail me your check by the 9 th to our Aggie Mom’s P.O. Box at the top of this letter. You can also invite your student, hubby or a friend! If you don’t like wine, come anyway for the tour and delicious lunch…besides we will also need designated drivers for the ones who have sampled the grapes!!!
