Chocolate Trifle (from Sharon Amery)
(Note: This recipe is very large: it makes 5 qts., most trifle bowls are 3qt. in size.)
3 boxes instant Chocolate Mousse (Dr. Oetker, 4.2 oz. box, found at Randall’s)
3 tubs Cool Whip (8 oz.)
1 chocolate cake mix, recommend the double chocolate
½ c. Kaluha (or Bailey’s Irish Crème)
4-6 “Skor” or “Heath” candy bars
Make the cake in a “9 x 13” pan. Let cool. Poke holes in top and pour on the Kaluha.
Make the mousse, 1 box at a time (for consistency sake and/or if making in a smaller size trifle bowl. For the 3qt. size: only 2 boxes of mousse, 2 Cool Whip, and 2 cake layers were used.
Layer in Trifle bowl: 1 st layer: cake, crumbled up
2 nd layer: mousse
3 rd layer: Cool Whip
4 th layer: Skor or Heath candy bars crumbled
(On last Cool Whip layer: make large peaks with the back of a spoon, to make the trifle look festive.) Enjoy!
