Howdy Aggie Moms! April 2008
Our Parent’s Weekend Boutique was a GREAT success this year! We made over $7,000.00!! Many thanks go to Margaret King, Kathy Keeney, and Chris McCaslin for setting up the booth on Thursday, and then manning it on Friday & Saturday.
I hope you had a wonderful visit with your student(s) and then dropped by Reed Arena to shop the Boutique! Our moms greatly appreciate your contribution to making Boutique a success with all your Aggie purchases! If it weren’t for our members shopping our Ways & Means tables at the monthly general meetings, buying items online, shopping Winter-in –Aggieland & boutique we would not be able to fund our student scholarships.
Speaking of Scholarships, the deadline to turn in applications has passed. Our Scholarship Committee is working hard to get all the completed applications ready to send to the Austin County Aggie Moms who will choose our four winners. Those four will be awarded $1000 scholarships at the annual Howdy Social in June.
Social Night Out : Our social this month was tailgating at the Maroon & White game at College Station the weekend after Parent’s weekend. Renee reported that there about 25 who showed up to tailgate!!
For those Moms with Graduating Seniors from August 07, December 07, or May 08, we will be honoring them at the Howdy Social, Wednesday, June 4 th. If you haven’t already, please email me (pennynelsn@aol.com ) with their name, class year and type of degree ASAP so we can make the arrangements. A sign up sheet will be passed around at our May General Meeting.
Spring Care Package : Jo Ann and Vicki reported that the day was gorgeous and that there was music going on while they were outside the MSC. All students picked theirs up except for one, which is probably a record!! They said that text messaging worked GREAT!!!

I think we are still in need for a scholarship person for next year ; otherwise we have everything filled!!
We were privileged to hear someone from CARPOOL at our April general meeting. They were informative about the program and were able to answer all the moms’ questions! This is the group that helps give Aggies rides back to their dorm if circumstances do not permit them to drive themselves home.
The President’s Raffle is going to be held at the Howdy Social June 4 th. Tickets can be purchased at the May Meeting for the following Raffle items:
Artist, Benjamin Knox has donated two prints
Lonestar Pool Art has donated one A&M pool pad for those of you who have swimming pools
We have one print of “Reveille” from the artist who gave the note cards that Ways & Means are selling
One basket of various A&M and Maroon & White items in it
Our May meeting will be Installation of Officers .
June 4 th will be Howdy Social where we will award our scholarship winners and meet new incoming freshmen and transfer students and their families. We will also recognize our Aggie graduates. More details will be coming!
Joint the FUN at our next meeting on Thursday, May 1st at 7:00 pm at the Living Word Lutheran Church located at 3700 South Mason Road in the Gathering Place.
